After a trouble free year, I'm DOA

Well, after 12 months of only needing to put a starter in, my 4runner died the other day. 97 m/t 4runner into an 89 4runner. About a month ago it gave me a few patches of running poor/trouble starting when cold & the other day I was driving it & it started to miss, backfire, lose power & finally died. I don't have an OBD port to plug into & my scanner doesn't get a signal from the one bolted to the intake. I noticed my fuel pump doesn't get power when the key is "on" it does get juice from the COR when cranking (not sure if this is how it's supposed to be). I pulled a wire & am getting spark. It'll briefly fire off carb cleaner of starting fluid. Is there something I can do to hook up the underhood diagnostic port to make it work? Or should it find an OBD port to wire in? Or any other suggestions?

No build thread, did my own wiring. Pulled the harness this morning & double checked it all just to make sure. Checked the main relay & COR, both test fine. No blown fuses. Only thing I'm noticing is the computer shows some signs of moisture on the outside of the ECM. Looks good inside though. What's the procedure to see ifs injectors are firing?

Hindsight is 20/20. Wire in an OBD when you get it fixed.

Well, wired in an OBD plug, only thing I'm getting is a "Vehicle not communicating" on my screen. I've had an adapter to go from the plug on the intake to OBDII for a while & always got that signal (as in long before having any issues), but figured it had to do with the swap.
Got fuel, getting spark (looks a little yellow vs being nice & blue)

make sure your obd2 plug is pinned right. Had a couple plugs from a camry or something else where the signal wire wasn't in the right pin.

Got mine from a Corolla, already re-pinned. One thing I'm noticing is my diagram shows the b/w wire off the OBDII going to ground in position 4, but there is no corresponding terminal on the female plug from my scan tool

Possibly onto something now. Tested the injectors w/analog meter & can't get the needle to move. Getting the constant 12v, but there doesn't seem to be any ground signal.im guessing the injectors are soley controlled by the ECM, so I'm thinking my original thought of a bad ECM, or maybe crank sensor or whatever tells the ECM to fire the injector

injector pulse

You might see a small deflection on an analog meter (needle sweep), but injector pulses are in the millisecond range; too short for all but the best to be seen on an analog meter. Now, if you have a scope or a graphing DVOM, you're good to go. Get a 'Noid' light from your local tool rental or someplace like that & see if you're getting injector pulses.

Just a thought- Are you getting fuel all the time?

I know you said you checked the EFI relay, but considering what mine has put me through, I would check it again. I have been through 2 EFI relays since I completed my swap. This last one through me threw a loop. Vehicle drove fine, started fine, yada yada, until I would hit a pothole/go over traintracks, any bump really and then I would have the same problems as you. Turns out the EFI relay WAS working well when I tested it, but the right bump would kill it momentarily. Would explain why your not getting fuel or signal to ECU.

EDIT: I had no check engine light on, which means no ECU communication. I pulled the relay out, used a wire to jump it, check engine light came on and started right up. Might not help you, but figured I would throw it out there. Good luck!

Check your CKP and ballancer bolt.Without CKP signal the comp will not turn on the fuel pump.
