there was a thread on this a few days ago, search for synthetic oil.
i just dumped 5.5 quarts into mine, mobil 1 7500. ill get the engine, which as always run on dino as far as i can tell, started on the 7500 stuff. next oil change ill decide to keep or move to the 15k stuff. seems like when i need an oil change, i can NEVER find the time to take it in or do it myself (never taking my vechile in unless i HAVE TO)

I'm sure you'll be fine switching over. I switched at 98k two years ago and now I'm at 118k and mine doesn't even burn a drop inbetween it's 9000 mile interval.

I bought my '99 Limited at 150,000 with documented dealership maintenance. I switched over to Mobil 1 5W-30 every 5,000 miles with the factory filter.
That was 35,000 miles ago. It runs great, never leaks, never burns a drop of oil and gets 19-20 mpg on the highway. |

Never to late IMO. I switched my 86 4Runner to Amsoil at 168000 miles and it still runs pretty strong. All original equipment might I add and now it's at 176000. Just make sure you change the oil filter after 1000 miles from the switchover. The synthetic will free up a lot of the detergents left behind from regular oil and the filter will get dirty pretty fast.

I've always leaned towards valvoline. No reason just picked one and stuck to it. Anybody know anything not to use valvoline?

i was unsure about switching at 90k, so i used synth blend first and have been using full synth since. @ 119k & no problems at all.
