spare tire mounting

Hi guys, have a 90 truck i put a cap on, and considering where i want to put the spare tire (32x11.5-15)

i can either make myself a roof rack to bolt onto my fiberglass cap, or I can make a swing out carrier off a rear bumper.

i have no problem fabricating either, just wondering the pros and cons of doing either.

obviously the roof mount would be a pain to lift up or down, and that puts a lot of weight pretty high up.

but a swing out one in front of the tailgate might get annoying since I open the tailgate relatively often...

opinions on this?

Do you use the full space of your bed? why not fab a mount up to put the tire inside the bed up behind the cab? That keeps you from having to lift it up to the top, and out of the way of the tailgate. If I'm not mistaken, would it not fit in the standard place being a 32"?

yes, sometimes I use the full bed space, and prefer not to place it in there.
stock place is gone from when I bought the truck, and not a big fan of having the tire there.... and i want it to look good too haha

ended up making a swing out rack, quite happy with how it turned out.

now thinking of possibly adding a "swing down" carrier for additional hauling volume capacity.

anyone ever seen one? trying to get ideas.

basically i want to make a luggage rack like the hitch mounted ones, but have it fold out so i can have it whenever i need
