If I wanted to go that big, I wouldn't waste my time with Toyota axles.
I'd go 60's.

I have a buddy with 42's on his 4runner but he just wheels snow. He has not broke anything as far as I know. For snow I would do it but for other types of wheeling I would upgrade to 60's like what was said above. I think alot of it is going to depend on what type of wheeling and your driving style.

You should buy them and swap them in.

Then admire your mall crawler, because thats about all it will be good for.

Buy them and resell them for a profit, but don't bother wasting your time trying to fit them onto your truck. Unless you have some pretty stout 60's and lots of money.

once you go over a 37, its both a matter of strength and stability. 44's on such a short axle regardless of what it is, is just counter productive, you're raising the CG of the beast which completely counters the advantage of the extra ground clearance under the axles.

IT's a bad bad idea anyway you look at it IMO. 37's IME are the best width to heigh ratio for our toy width axles and besides that pretty good meeting ground to compliment the overal strength of toy axles to begin with.

also, fitting 44's under a toyota at stock width is about impossible, you're gonna rub everywhere upfront and gauranteed to hit the frame (without a bed) in the back on any normal aftermarket spring thats worth a damn

i have a 89 sas on 44s with a 355 small block chevy th350 tranny offroad all the time all i ever have broke is a hub so who ever says there weak is wrong

no everyone that hits the swamp with me dont understand how it wont break on the road i can bust the 4 barrel and melt the 44s with no problem i busted 1 hub 1 time because the front bounced up and hit the ground full throtle im trying to upload a video right now of some bad spots its been in

So you are running a Chevy engine, tranny and I assume transfercase with Toyota axles? Why replace all but the axles? I am sure you are running stock birfields even right? Axle size aside, your truck must be pretty darn tippy being so tall and narrow, I'm sure it doesn't have a lot of flex since the tires would be rubbing on everything with any amount of uptravel.

you can run that combo on yota axles but i would get ruff stuff fj80 front and rear first and upgrade to longfields and chromo rear axles youll have the same strength as the 60s but without the weight
