Well, i'd want to see it in person.
If the knuckles were pitted REALLY bad, then you might want to steer clear, but if there isnt that much pitting then you can fill them with JB weld and smooth to your hearts desire.
Otherwise, it doesnt look that bad.

can you take any other pictures of the axle housing itself, more from the front view as you would see it on the truck?
there are three different mini truck axles:
Toyota Mini Truck Front Axle Identification
79-80 no gusset
81-83 short gusset (to u-bolts)
84-85 long gusset (past u-bolts)
ID Toyota Mini Truck axles
79-80 no gusset
81-83 short gusset (to u-bolts)
84-85 long gusset (past u-bolts)
obviously if you pick that thing up you are gonna need new calipers, and disk
might has well do FJ rotors and v-6 calipers and rebuild it
edit: i never understand why people don't cover stuff like axles up...the knuckle balls may clean up ok using a flapper disk..don't use a solid grinding wheel
--axle looks like an 81-83

Looks like surface rust to me, whicg could easily be sand blasted or wire wheeled away. Go take a look at it, if the axle shafts slide in smoothly, id say give him 200 cash and call it a deal. if you try to slide the axle shafts in. and they don want to, then thats a good indicator that the housing is bent.
