Looping idle when on the brakes

Hey all, I've got a 93 pickup 22re 5spd 14xxxx. Was running great until about a week ago. Whenever I'm on the brakes and idling in traffic, the idle revs up then drops back down. I don't have a tach, so I'm not sure the range, I've had to turn the idle screw all the way in or it idles very high. Any help appreciated

Bet you've got an air leak between the MAF or AFM and the throttle body. Check that out first. 2nd guess would be an air leak in one of the vacuum hoses coming off the intake chamber.

You ridle speed is likely set too high. For more details, see the web page baloe (2nd Q&A on the page):

What's the best way to find the leak. I've heard something about waving an open propane tank to listen for an idle increase? The idle screw is all the way in so I cant lower it anymore.
