help finding right part! carb related

hi, sorry to post this, but i've searched for my old post, and can't find it anywhere...

My 22 r carb had issues, stalling after running when warm; i had a part replaced, it was under the carburator? I'm having the same issues now, and think it's the same part, because it was put in from a junker truck....I can't remember the name, and need to order the part. It was not the carb, it was part of the vacuum system, some kind of valve? I posted the name of it when i got it, but, like i said, i can't find the post anywhere.

Help please? Th anks!

One of the most common problems on a 22r carb is that auxiliary accelerator pump diaphragm goes bad/gets a hole in it and leaks fuel into the vacuum lines, and that will cause your truck to run bad or have a miss when its running.

There is a fuel cut solenoid that screws into the side of the carb that has two wires on it, and what it does is shut off the fuel in the idle circuit on the carb when the engine is shut off. But if the fuel cut solenoid was bad your truck wouldn`t even start, so I doubt that is your problem.

+1

There are only 3 electrical parts on the 22R carburetor. And only one that has two wires going to it. That one is, as stated by myyota, the Fuel Cut Solenoid. Part number 21934.

The other two are the automatic choke (part number 21015), it has one wire going to it and uses the body for ground. And the Outer Vent Control Valve (OVCV) (part number 21347). It also has one wire and uses body for ground.

slo mo, that is the part. what started happening was the truck would die when i took my foot off of the gas. Changed out the carb, still had problems. Changed out the solenoid, worked for awhile, and now cuts out after i take my foot off of the gas, so i'm thinking it is the same problem...

While it is possible that 2 carburetors having that exact same issue, it is unlikely.

I would investigate the carburetor idle speed screw to see if the carburetor only needs a simple adjustment.

I would investigate the idle advance on the distributor to see if it is holding vacuum. If it does not, the rpms will drop to a lower speed than designed and may stall the engine.

Are you able to keep the engine running if you maintain a higher than idle engine speed with the gas pedal?

not sure. in order to start up the truck (it is the farm truck, so it sits for a while) i was having to squirt a little starting fluid into the carb. The last time i got it started and was driving it, it stalled on low idle. I will try to start it up again and let you know.
