Fixed the Starter, Still randomly wont Start
1990 Pickup 22re.... Had been having intermittent turn the key and "CLICK" no start. The tach will move up and down oddly, and the loud click can be heard but no crank. Replaced the brass connections on the starter, around the first of the year and it did it again yesterday.
I had thought it had something to do with a long trip and getting hot, but then other times on a cold start it will do it as well.
Any ideas?

Im not what is causing you problem for sure, but if you replaced imtrrnal parts, with no success, maybe its a bad/ loose ground or power lead. On a strange note though, mine would do the exact same thing especcially an cold mornings. I had a real spongy clutch so i replaced the master and slave. It fixed the clutch problem, and coincidentaly my starter has worked every time since. That was in devember.

I've had the starter checked, it checked good if those tests are trustworthy. My only guess is its a loose wire or bad connection somewhere...but my goodness there's barely enough room to see down in there where the wires are.

Start with the basics. How is your battery, a low battery will not push enough current to the starter and do the click thing.
If it's your wiring, then your wires will get hot going to the starter. That will kind of tell you it's your wiring.
Clicking is good, that means your COR is getting power...

Same issue on my 92. My power cables were badly corroded down into the wire jacket. If I grabbed hold of the starter cable and jiggled it the truck would start. I replaced all the cables from the battery, starter and fuse me link. That fixed mine permanent.

I second this. I unfortunately bought a new starter for my 89 4runner, which did the trick for a while, but then it would start to do the same thing. I ended up replacing the ground and the positive cables, and bam, problem solved.

If your cables check out ok then it's probably your solenoid. They do go bad as they see the influx of current for the starter motor.
