Best gears for 33x12.50s?

So I have an 87 Toyota single cab short bed with a 22R. Im running 33x12.50/15 BFG KM2s on no lift but soon to do about 2-3"

What gears would be best? 4.88s or 5.29s?

Searching is your best friend.

With that being said....

If you plan on going up to 35's or bigger, run 5.29's...

If your keeping 33's and no bigger, stick with 4.88's because with 5.29's you'll be running high rpms with less gas mileage.

Depending on if your lifting and wheeling it, or lifting for looks and daily driving.

When you do the rear you need to do the front too right?

Also where can I find a set? I found a few websites that sell rears but not fronts...then sites that sell both but no prices.

Yes, both the front and the rear diffs need to be the same gear ratio. If they're not your drive train will bind when you engage 4WD because the front wheels will be turning at a different ratio than the rears.

Those 8" ring and pinion sets....will they fit front too? Cause I can only find FJ and 05+ IFS sets.

Like you, mine's a 5 speed and daily driver. I take it for the occasional offroad trip, but NOT a rock crawler. I installed 4.88's to turn my 33x12.50's and am very pleased. Would definitely do the same again.
Bojangles is right on. If you're not rock crawling, you don't need 5.29 gears
