I had just posted this thread and it never showed up so Iam starting over.
As many know I have been yammering about a swap. Well the pig finally died so I have a dillema. I have found a 3.4 (5vz fe) 191k for $1000 including ECM, harness and exhaust manifolds, running strong ready to pull in a 2wd p/u... is the ECM going to work from 2wd to my 4x4... will i HAVE to have some body lift to make it fit?will the 3.4 bolt to my R150f?. is the install fairly simple considering? NEXT

I have found a very strong (stronger than I have seen before) 3vze 140k , I mean almost feels 3.4 strong, I thought it was gears but on the freeway its pulling 3000 revs same as mine at 70. anyway, I can get that for about the same.. now obviously the direct drop in would be easier but how much more difficult would the 3.4 be to drop in?... I can get the 3.4 w/o manifolds harness and ecm for about $650, should I grab the 3.4 and trade even for the 3.0 that he want a grand for?...ugghh... WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
I have all the tools neccessary to do the job just noone to help (noone that would be of help anyway) and am just wondering in this situation, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
(by the way if anyone wants to help i have beer and pretzels...lol) I could make it worthwhile if someone was bored enough to come and help me complain while we install...lol

I understand about the topic being constant... but havent found anything on comparing and all the details without actually searching searching and looking looking ... its easy to just hope for replys on this thread... the beating of this topic is actually part of the problem...looking through pages and pages and pages for minute answers and huge answers as well....

3.0 is throw away motor. I've got numerous Toyota tech friends and my engine builder laughs at people who ask for a 3.0 rebuild or swap.

Spend the extra coin and do the 3.4

If you're not willing to search and look into what it takes and read other peoples 3.4 swap threads.. then you're not ready for a 3.4 swap. swap the 3.0 and keep driving.
