Why on earth would you swap to a carb?
529s will do best. if your swapping to carb get 571s

yeah you could always get new shock hoops. or just cut your fender well.
That thing is gonna sit a little too tall on 35s

Need some advice. I've got a 04 Tundra with stock tires (30.5") and am considering going up one size(about 1 in). I believe I can do this without a lift but what about the gearing and my ability to tow my travel trailer? Do I run the risk of burning up the rear end?

I would definately address that tire/wheel situation, like Ocdropzone said, 10" wide wheel max for a 12.5" tire. With your current setup the rim is going to be wider than your tread.
I have a manual trans.

Yes i know that the wheel is wider then the tire but like i said earlier it was free. My other set of wheel and tires are coming in so this will do for now i would think .

as far as the carb swap, I always owned carbed trucks so i kinda fancy carburetor's. but if u think this set-up will do better with the gearing then ok i'll give it a go...... Always open to try new thing's.

And you dont have to worry about flooding out, and cold starts and stuff.
I mean i would go carb to do a propane kit. but 22r's put out less HP than 22re's.

And fuel injection is just nice to have, a little harder to work on but worth it IMO.

And JRico you'll be fine. my buddy runs 33x12.5s on his tundra and tows his trailer just fine. But stay on topic here.

You'll be happy with the 5.29's with that setup. I guarantee you will learn to love EFI offroad. It's not as simple to work on as a carburator, but not having to keep your foot in the gas up climbs and then having to roll back down to get it started again after it stalls is priceless.

I'm running 4.88's in my 91, what a difference after pushing 4.10s!
Keep in mind, the bigger the gears you push, the more likely you are to bust em...5.29s have more pressure on each tooth, though a lot of the fellows on here are running them without any issue

5.71s are just as strong as 4.10s if not stronger...

Your info is good. But I compared 4.88 to 5.29. not 4.10 to 5.71..... so...find THAT comparison

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/r...ing-35s-41035/ wabbit says no!

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f31/...re-time-39838/ 9 tooth vs 7 tooth pinion

I just used that comparison because everyone says 410s are the strongest gears.

and once again i didnt really see any evidence, just preference.

But i didnt read every word.

They recommend 529s for 35s, they will both be fine if you do proper break in procedure on them and arent super hard on your junk.

and i would imagine you wanna go a little bigger for how tall your truck probably is?

as for as the 3in body im gonna take it off. So my main concern is if i do go with the 529's and run 33's until i want to run 35's will it be all good?

Yeah it'll have a little lower end brunt with 33s but it will fine.

a few guys on here run it and love it.
But matches up perfectly to stock as far as 35s and 529s
