88 22r spittin an spuderring
i have a 88 pickup. it has the 22r motor in it. wen i got the truck it had alot of problems. well i fixed all of them. i put a weber carb on it. an after i fixed all the big problems it started sputtering. well it had vacuum leaks so i sealed all the leaks. an it still doing it. then i replaced fuel filter. still doing it. so i replaced the plugs an wires. and it still doing it. anyone got any ideas what it could be?

Not from autozone they aren't. But still are expensive. And No you cannot "delete" the ignitor unless you research GM ignition control module and replace it with one of those, but it's tricky. Also you might get away with an entire MSD ignition system that allows you to trigger directly off the distributor. But again that's not cheap either. Did you test the coil before replacing it? Doesn't sound like you did. What else if anything and how did you test these components? Probably a good thing to do because ignition stuff just isn't cheap to be just throwing parts at it.

so how wet did the coil and igniter get? how did they get wet? the conectors are sealed so they should not be affected by a little water. and if they got wet enough to affect them then the dist is located on same side of engine (as you probally know) and could have gotten wet inside, does it spit and sputter all the time or just at idle? was the replace carb new or used? If used did you clean idle circut? is your EGR still working? is it conected? if removed nevermind! have you tryied to disconect vaccum to dist? what is timing and how smooth is advance? usually when ignitor fails it does not cause ill running engine usually wont start

wet enough to kill the truck. i was pouring water in the radiator an the fan flug some water on it. an one time i sprayed my truck off at the car wash an it got wet an wouldnt start! an i dont think the dist. got wet. an it does it idle an wen im driving. but wen im at constant speed it only does it everyso often. but wen i get on the gas it does it all the time. the carb is new. its a weber manual choke carb. no egr. i havent took vacuum off dist. i havent checked the timing or the smoothness of the advance.

Well connectors should be well sealed enough unless vehicle went under water completly, if you have compressed air available to you blow off igniter from all angles certainly could not hurt, even go as far as unplugging and blowing wire loom and component sides. If it has some success maybe the body of the igniter is leaking, maybe spread some clear rev around it

Also put some dielectric grease in connector before you click it back in. Hopefully that can buy you some time till you can replace it or at least see if it affects the problem or not
