3rd Gen 4runner Front suspension lift question

I've searched a lot but have not found anyone with my situation.

I ONLY want to lift the front of my stock 99' 4runner 4x4. I do not want to modify the rear end. I just want the front to sit an 1.5" higher or so than the back (i don't like the stink bug stance). I am not an offroader, i'm just a pavement pounder that wants to tuck 265/75/16's with no rub and a cali style stance.

Can i just throw a spacer up front? Or can i do the trd tundra suspension up front? Would i need to drop the diff? I'd like to do it the right way and have a smooth ride on a budget. Thanks in advance for any input.

depends on how much you want to spend. The spring will cost more, and will make you want to buy new shocks (you should with now springs anyways), but will def. give you a smoother ride. Spacers will do the opposite, but are very cheap. If you dont use your 4wd too much...dont worry about the diff drop. The stress put on your cv joints will only be applied when your 4wd is engaged. There is already enough controversy using them with some guys who do nothing but drive off road.

If you want to do it right, you should probably go with the tundra (or some other coils) up front. if you only want 1.5", take a look at OME from toytec or wabfab.

You can't fit 265s with stock supension? I can easily. Maybe it's that one year difference..

Thanks for the info. I am soon moving to cold weather in Spokane, WA and will be using the 4wd during the winter as needed and especially when i go up the mountain to go snowboarding.

So i guess a diff drop with tundra coils and new struts it is. I know i can tuck the 265/75's now but i also really want to have the "stance" along with it, i hate stock stink bug.

mineaswell do both front and rear. 3rd gens are starting to be considered old, and if your spending the money and putting in the time now, why not do both?

As for the diff drop, driving in snow conditions wont do much to your cv joints. And If you are only going 1.5", I really dont think you would need one. Sure, its good insurance to keep your rig as stock as possible, but realistically the people who need them are the ones who consider 4 wheeling a hobby, and have a 2.5"+ lift.

hope you are happy with your decision!

if you go here http://www.wheelersoffroad.com/96024rundstrlift.htm

then go down to the part were it splits the lifts into individual pieces
you will find what you need for 1.25" front only lift

I did a lot more reading and think it comes down to Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks up front (with stock coils?) And I'll do OME in the back or LC coils. I'm not wanting to do spacers at all at the moment
