the part #'s are different (figured it may be the throw out bearing being different)....... my nephew bought a rebuilt 22re and he said his pressure plate wouldnt bolt up to the flywheel. we had figured his maybe someone had installed a 22r engine in his truck before he got a hold of it. so he took his flywheel/clutch and bolted it up to the new engine but i didnt know if the weight/balance was the same.

20r 22r 22re flywheels between 79-95 are basically the same and are interchangeable .
later years they went to a larger clutch dic surface , but flywheels are the same .

There is some sort of part number difference in the later 22re's - I think it was a change in spring design, but they should fit.
22RTE flywheels and clutches are different from 22R/22RE - I see a lot of jacked up non-OEM parts numbers that list 22R/22RE/22RTE as the same parts.

as far as i know the only thing that changed between 22r and 22re was the fuel delivery, one being carbed the other injected. so it should be fine
