Its a trouble code 71 tho...
either way, its the same...
Egr system malfunction
• Open in EGR gas temp. sensor circuit
• Open in VSV circuit for EG R
• EGR vacuum hose disconnected,
valve stuck
• Clogged in EGR gas passage
• ECM
I had this a few years back, and just deleted my egr system.
Plenty of threads on here with instructions.
ETA: If you live in a state with smog restrictions.... you will want to correct the issue, and NOT delete the egr.

well then... the cheap fix is to delete the egr system.
The CORRECT fix however, is to figure out if its the egr valve, sensor or wiring, vacuum hose/leak causing the issue, and repair/replace accordingly.
Time to do some reading. start by searching "trouble code 71" or "egr valve" etc....
THEN, decide which route to take.
ETA: 5 times out of 10, a vacuum leak is the cause, the other 4-5 times, is a clogged egr valve, which is also fairly easy to fix.

Thanks for your help ill surely check this out I kinda feel stupid to think it was a code 17 which there is no such thing possible. Keep this updated if I have any questions

Well mechanic said if he cleans it it could stop the Check engine light so. I'm kinda hesitant about doing that. If there's a thread or few threads to help me take it out would be much appreciated. I'm not taking a chance to get a maybe fix

sometimes the egr valve gets stuck hit it with a blunt object, had the same problem with an izuzu trooper I was working on, hit the f'er and code went away and idle went back to normal, I'ts worth a shot, try it..

I highly recommend to delete the egr/pair system on the 3vze. It likes it, and responds MUCH better without it.
