Currently running 30x9.50x15 mickey thom. on stock 15x7 on my 86 runner. I was thinking of going to 32's just wondering how bad it will hurt gas mileage and power. Do you run the 10,11,or 12.50. Thanks in advance and post some pics if you can.:bigclap:

Well, I run 33x12.50x15 with no real lift. Just have a 2" block on the back, aftermarket torsion bars turned up 2" (hell of a stiff ride lol), 1" body lift, and cut fender wells. I still get round 20mpg if I aint always WOTing it. But I do have 4.88 and it being a 5spd probably helps.

32's look nice but kill the power pretty badly.

I have them on my truck and have done about 200k with that size tire so I think my opinion is valid.

It's bad enough that I'm finally tired of it to the point that I'm either going to get a bigger truck next year or drop a V8 into the one I have.

I havent felt much power loss but the gas is killing me with the 12.50s

Thanks for the compliment LR. Yeah, very effective setup, and very cheap compaired to jackin er up 6-8" to fit 35s... Low end on it will still tear up just about anything in sight with those 4.88s and locked diffs, but acc isnt great and WOT'in it in 5th will only get me goin bout 85 downhill, but with our runners it aint always bout the top speed now is it? Lol been thinkin bout swappin a 6 in er and sellin my 22re, but on a poor college student budget, it's nothin but a pipe dream.

But mileage is still pretty darn good in the city if its geared low (see about 17-20 city driving), but once you hit the highway and get er over 65-70, you really see your mpg take a hit (bout 15 in my best guess). But boy I tell you, with those wide 12.5s, you can really throw some mud!

I'm running 31X10.50's right now with Skyjacker shocks but no lift. I'm considering switching to 32's also. It's just a question of whether they will fit or not.

I know for a fact my mileage has suffered even with just 31s, and 4.10 gears. But the power loss is even worse. I would always recommend regearing. Also, 12.50s without any lift will rub pretty bad. Plus not many companies if any that I know of make a 32x10.50....its usually 31x10.50 or 32x11.50.

yeah 32x11.5s'll rub like crazy in the front with no lift on a p/u, but people claim to fit the skinny 33's on 4runners without issue. There is a power loss, but its not that bad, and unless you live in a really hilly area its not really an issue. Im currently running 4.10's, and im thinking of regearing when I have the money next summer, but then again I may not.

Looks nice with the 32s tho...

I've got 31s, wanting 33s...but with 4.10 gears that wouldn't be smart to do.

So I plan on splitting the difference between size and power and getting 32's...

Been researching actual tires diameters of 32x11.5s, and the Maxxis Bighorns as well as the Kumho Road Venture MT 834's come out to around 31.8"s - so I think I will try this size...I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of power for ground clearance.

I went from 31x10.50s to 32x11.50s on my 94 4runner and haven't really noticed much loss. My gas milage is less than 1 mpg worse and the power loss is minimal if noticable even on hills. I've got the v6 5speed with 4.56 gears also.

i had a stock 95 runner 3.0 auto 4.88's withe running baords still on and only got a littel rubbing...power loss was not significant

Well of course you wouldn't loose power or mileage because you have the right gears.

32s with 4.10s is not gonna be good....its not good with 31s, in fact it pretty much sucks. And if you don't have a manual tranny, it wears on it pretty quick. A friend of mine has a jeep wrangler with 35x12.50s stock 3.73 or whatever gears come stock in 94 jeeps, the 4.0 inline six and an A/T. He pretty much toasted it by not regearing.

My advice for the masses.....save some money and regear if you're gonna get big tires. The extra size is worthless if you can't turn it.

Swampthing, That truck of yours looks really good. I like the paint job, tires, model, well it all looks great.

mine had 32x11.50x15 on it when i got it (no lift) and it rubbed alot and with stock gears it was sloooow, i swaped to 31's and it's a little better

An 86 4runner with 4.10's and 32" tires will be really slow, takes forever to get moving and 5th gear is useless.

I just swapped the 4.10's for 4.88's and it made a big difference. My runner is much more fun to drive now and I can use 5th again.

If you can afford to regear, do it!
