Ok guys so Now that im ready to put the bed back on Im not sure if I should go get new bed bolts from the stealership (the ones with the funky washer that they want 15.95 a piece for) or should I just get nuts and bolts on my own? I really think that 15.95 a bolt is way to much, but Im not sure what size and length I should use. I was thinking a grade 8 3/8 x 2" or 2.5" bolt. I need advice/opinions.

not sure what size they are, but I can tell ya they're not 3/8"...

The old bed bolts are in really bad shape. I do not want to reinstall them

just use a thread pitch gauge to measure the thread and then check the diameter and go buy new bolts to reuse the same funky washers. or just go buy new bolts and nuts and washers of the same thickness in grade 8.

Bed bolts are likely M12x1.25 thread pitch and a little over an inch long. I make some with a tab welded onto the nut:


Or you can use a plain nut and bolt and get a wrench on to top to hold it for tightening. Usually need two people to do that, one for the top of the bolt and one for the nut.

drag em down to the hardware store, and you should be able to figure out whats the same size. or if you're lucky and still have a real hardware store around (aka not homedepot or lowes) then you can just have the clerk there find the right size bolts for you

or you can get a drill attachement and spin the bolt with the drill and it tightens up with out a wrench on the bottom the nut can only spin so fast lol.

4Crawler, Thanks for the sizes. I think that I am going to get the nuts and bolts and then just make my own tabs for the bolts. Thanks for everything. I will let you know how it goes.

Now that I see you add tabs to the bed bolts, you just sold me on your kit. That was the only reason I wasn't going to buy it right now. You need to add that picture to your website.

All I can find right now are M12 x 1.75 bolts and nuts. Do you think this will work? Thanks guys

12mm is 12mm, as long as replacing the bolts and nuts, no problem. Or use 1/2" or 7/16", probably cost less.

Well here they are I made my own bed bolts with washers . I used M12x1.75
2" bolts and Plasmacut out custom made washers from 1/8" plate steel. Im going to bolt the bed up tomorrow.
