Yep Millball, I "Surplussed" my T&B Orange/Black handle crimpers when I got out of the Navy 35 years ago
. Nothing better for 8 and smaller wires and crimps.. Still have my Metcal PS1 also, $700 seemed extreme so I got one on Ebay..
We high end solderers and assemblers bailed out many an Electronic Tech
Crimp FIRST, solder SECOND, solder whets into the joint no problem..
Simultaneous 1 and 2 just about always results in a disturbed (defective) joint

Always remember that Direct Short equals MAX current!!
12 VDC@650 Amp can be quite spectacular for a short period of time
Nuclear Repair Electrician USN/ High end IPC certified solderer

Amazon.com: Camco 47474 Black 5/16" Stud 24" Long 2-Gauge Marine Battery Cable and Lug Assembly Tinned: Automotive I just received one of these 2AWG Marine cables and it looks really nice, it has solid lugs. I don't know if any one else has any experience with these cables, but it looks to be very high quality. My original starter cable is about 32" long so a 3' section is going to be about 5" longer than the original cable. I don't know how this stacks up cost wise compared to having a welding cable custom made. ... I doubt if these off-the-shelf cables are soldered after crimping. Soldering maximizes electrical contact interface, AND fills voids in the crimp to help minimize accumulation of battery acid in those voids which lead to corrosion. Therefore, I would take the extra step of coating the crimp with liquid rubber tape thoroughly then protecting that with another layer of heat-shrink. Not much trouble to do but then I can forget about the cable for the next 500,000 miles

Made with tinned marine cables and tinned copper lugs with adhesive lined shrink tubing. They have many options of cable length, cable gauge, and lug hole diameter.
You can purchase directly from their site or from their eBay store, not as many options on their eBay store though.

Terminal covers are a good idea if you're still running a "standard" wet battery.
Since I purchased an Optima I haven't had a lick of cable trouble with corrosion near the battery in over 15 years.

I used to like the Optima batteries, but it seems like quality has gotten worse, the last one barely lasted through warranty and went dead during a freezing night. The only other battery worth anything is Interstate.

I knew I should have edited that reply before someone jumped on the Optima bashing
I got mine before the quality dropped.I only mentioned them for the "style" of battery. The Odyssey/DieHard Platinum is gaining ground though.
