lower balljoints

So i purchased a set of movotech balljoints from rockauto and went to install them today to find out they dont fit
the bottom of the balljoint is like 1/4inch thicher then the stock one, inside of the knuckle theres a lip where it wont let the lower balljoint seat fully into the spot. it sorta lets the whole piece sit that 1/4 inch off of the knuckle and leaves a gap.
Anyone else have this issue? i went to autozone and picked up a set with the same exact fitment problem.

I tried searching for it but didnt see anything about it.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think this is a case of, "you get what you pay for." Honestly, I have never heard of movotech or movotech, or what you bought. I'm just guessing that they were cheap, and that's what you wanted. A lot of guys on here have done moog, me included, and others swear by OEM. But they are pricy. Personally, if they don't fit, return them and get a better quality part.

+1, agree with OEM, especially if it's for something critical that could cause an accident if broken.

I'm going OEM with my next set. My Moog lowers are already showing play, and they've only got 20k on them.

Yeah, gotta research more on Moog, I've heard many things wrong with Moog idler arms, too recently.

Red face

Go figure Toyota`s price for ball joints is cheaper then Napa for the better grade ball joints.

I've learned long ago...it's too expensive to be cheap.

The part might be cheap, but my time to do the job 2 or 3 times quickly makes the part more expensive than OEM.

I've had the same problems with Mevotech (and we sell the brand at work). For aftermarket, I'm sticking with XRF on my Toyotas from now on.

I had a set of cheapie lowers for rockauto that fit the same way. I hit the top 1/8" or so of the lip with the bench grinder so they would sit flush on the control arm. No problem since.

OEM, balljoint failure=disaster. Learned the hard way.
