if the readings fall into 'normal' sensor ranges, you likely will not get a code... even if the 'normal' range is not what should 'really' be read.

and I agree... once you understand where which whatever goes and whatthefrackever it does... things make a LOT more sense.

It just takes a while to figure it out... as I'm still learning myself.

thank you for clearing that up.

man, doing this whole engine replace has taught me a hell of a lot more about my rig, im stoked. I remember when I started, all those hoses and wires looked like a big mess of "I dont wtf that thing does". after reassembling and then having to go back in and replace the knock sensor i just put it all back by heart. yes.

There's no sensor under the thermo for the 3.0. Your coolant temp sensor is on the same cluster/coolant bypass as the sending unit. I've two glasses of Irish cream already, so I'm drawing a blank where it's positioned exactly. There are some pics in the FSM and/or on the forum. Me shall find>>>>

I'm going to borrow Mt. Goat's beautiful 3.0 pic....

The coolant temp sensor is located to the left of the bypass hose in this pic. However, to the right of it if your facing your motor. It has a grey connector.
