Horn dont work

Horn dont work
My truck is a 1987 pickup 22r 4wd. Ever since I've owned this truck the horn hasn't worked. So first off I just figured it was either a bad horn or the contacts in the steering wheel were bad.
So today I switched out my steering column for a new tilting column from a 87 runner. The horn in the runner worked so I new the contacts in the column were still good. So once I finished up my swap I tried to honk my horn and well it didn't work. So I unplugged the horn from my truck and I touched it to the battery and it works that way. So what's wrong?
All I have is a test light. I tried hooking my test light to both sides of my battery then to the prongs on my horn pigtail and I dont get anything. I taped my horn button shut then tried testing the pigtail again and still nothing. I've traced the to wires into my fender then into the engine bay. From there they go to the main harness. I also traced the single wire from the horn contacts down to we're the column and harness meet. It's a single wire that is green with one single red stripe.
I've searched this problem and can't seem to acquire the needed info. I can not read and understand wiring diagrams so I'm stumped there. Does anyone have any ideas. Can I just hook one wire to the battery or hot fuse then the other to the single wire in my column and get it to work that way. I'd rather not do that but it would be nice to have a horn. It's hard to rush my wife if she can't hear me honking.
We're exactly does the two wires from the horn go. I know one must feed back to the steering wheel. Where's the other go.
All info is appreciated.

Touch a wrench from the steering shaft to the springloaded pin and that will tell you if you are completing the circuit. If it works it is in the horn button area. I show how I do it on the post below it. Link>>> https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...l#post51644564

I posted about your horn in some other thread, but didn't know you didn't have a multimeter.
The green and red wire from the horn to the steering column plug is the horn ground wire, it is pin #5. The switch/contacts in the wheel connect this to pin #1 a white-black ground wire.
You wire from the horn to the column is likely damaged. Hook your test light into the #5 pin on the harness, just shove the probe into the plastic plug housing till it contacts the metal tab. Now connect the other end of the test light to power, unplug the connect on the brake pedal power is on the right hand side of this plug pin #2. mash the horn and the light should light up.
Assuming you got the light to work you can just run a new wire to the horn from that plug on the steering column.

the horn button only grounds the circut. behind your steering wheel you will see a copper ring that a little peg rubs against to complete the circut. when the peg gets worn it doesnt reach. you can replace the peg or the poor mans fix is to use a thin washer behind the mounting points for the copper ring on the wheel to shim it out a little thus making contact and the horn will work. just depends if the circit is powered up
