88' 22re pickup oil leak question.....?
Hey guys,anyone ever have oil leaking from the clutch lever boot right behind the slave cylinder? Seems like a strange place but after wiping off excess and letting it sit for a while here comes a few drops on my driveway! Just wondering if anyone ever ran into this issue? Thanks

Sure its not coming from higher up?? Maybe valve cover?
Not brake fluid from clutch slave cylinder??
If its coming from inside the bell housing its rear mainseal leak, or if gear oil smell, from tranny input shaft seal.

I'm gonna check vc tomorrow and make sure but I'm afraid it may be that nasty rear main just looked like it was coming from inside the bell housing where the boot goes around the clutch lever? location kinda throwing me off but pretty sure its oil smell not gear but I'm still new and have a lot to learn!

Input shaft seal on 88' PU 22re......
Ok I'm pretty sure my dime size drip is gear oil and coming from bell housing clutch fork area is lookin like an input shaft seal on the tranny. Before I go rent the Trans jack and drop this bad boy does anyone know if there's a product that u can add to Trans fluid to take care of small leak? Lucas,sea foam etc...? Wasn't sure just thougt I'd put it out there if anyone has had this problem and NOT dropped the tranny for seal replacement? Thx again!

I'd keep an eye on the oil level in the tranny, watch for any serious escalation of the leak, and keep on driving it as is. A little gear oil does'nt cost much, if you have to add a little from time to time, no big deal.
Seal swelling snake oil is seldom worth its cost, and I don't know of any such for manual trannies. Maybe somebody makes something, IDK.
If the leak is small, it may not foul the clutch, and you can rack up some more miles before it has to come apart for repair.
When that time comes, you can do a comprehensive repair that might include a clutch kit, as well as the tranny input seal, rear main, ect. Don't spend your money too soon.
Most every machine leaks some. Some wise-guy once told me that if they don't leak, it means they're out of oil.

Pretty sure my trans output seal is leaking, so I'm sort of in the same boat. I think the trans has to be pulled in order to separate the transfer case, which I'm not jumping up to do. If my clutch goes, I'll tackle it then.
