Unless I find a really good deal, I think I'll be sticking to a non reservoir shock for now. The eventual plan is a Total Chaos LT kit, so I want to keep the expenses in check until then.

Any other suggestions while we have this post rolling?

I definitely wouldn't bother buying new wheels with the stock backspacing, a bit of cash to spend when you will eventually want a wider wheel (especially if you go TC and lose a few fitment issues with larger tires).

You are going to need to measure, at 10.65" compressed they are borderline. you can use a ruler pivoting it as if it were the a-arm and measure from it to the upper shock mount. If it is questionable, don't get it, those look too expensive to risk crushing. However, remote res shocks are awesome. There is always the option of going with a Ford shock hoop or other and just putting a much longer shock in there. It's more spendy but you might find it worth it.

I worry primarily about the front shocks, I don't seem to have as much problem with rear shock fade or I don't notice it, one of the two.

You might just find a good pair of front shocks and give them a try. Already with the spacers you are using a longer shock with typically a larger diameter shock body holding more oil and valved more aggressively than the stock. That will yield a pretty big improvement right there.

You should talk to TC then and get shocks that will fit their setup, I would think they would fit stock, might need a hoop. Would seriously spread out the spend then, as the shocks are an expensive part of the lontravel setup...

Before I here back from Total Chaos I want check to see if the shocks I have right now will fit with a BJ spacer, here are the specs:

Ironman suspension Nitro shock
#12088GR

http://www.ironmansuspension.com/specsnitrogas.html

collapsed: 9.64 inches
Extended: 14.49 inches

Will these be close enough to fit?

Merry Christmas,

Jeff

You might *just* make it. The 14" shocks are too short and at 14.49 you are riding the line. 15" shocks make it so sweat. It's no biggie though, you can just shim the shock a little bit.

Thanks Frank. I'll be giving you a call to put in my order & chat about shimming those shocks. Drop me a line when you get back to work from the holidays.

cheers,
jeff

Just ordered some BFG AT 32x11.5s to go on the truck this spring. Hoping all goes well. The final setup will be as follows:

-15x9 rims with 4.5" backspacing (gonna give them a try at least)
-2 1/2" rear springs (ironman) with greasable shackles
-1 1/2" BJ spacers up front
-Sonoran Steel IFS brace
-OME steering stabalizer
-Ironman shocks on all 4 corners
-Low profile bumpstops
-All new Energy Suspension bushings for the front & rear including sway bar bushings
-Grant 1064 Formula Steering wheel
-New upper & lower ball joints

Any comments? Tips?

I'll post before & after pics when done.

cheers,
frozen
