4runner gas tank notch?

93 4runner v6 with LC coils

after installing LC Coils i noticed that my Lower link is hitting the gas tank where toyota welded the top and bottom half together. This "weld" of sorts is essentally limiting down travel of the rear suspension. Has anyone successfully notched the gas tank to allow the lower link to travel more? is this possable?

I did take a close look at the gas tank and did notice that the "weld" is about 1/2" in from the edge of the flanges. but i was hesatant to take out the grinder if the tank is sealed in both a weld and bonding method.

the lower link is making obvious contact with the gas tank... this is why i ask... any other reason i would not really care.. lol

Thanks

Ill take pics when it is light in my part of the world AKA... tomorrow!

Did you install a panhard drop bracket? I'm not sure if that's the same issue you're talking about.. But if you haven't installed that after your LC coils, then that is probably the culprit.

If the panhard bar is not level, its gonna effect things. Get a drop bracket.

^x2 I just didn't know if he already had one and was dealing with some other wacked out problem. I know not installing the drop bracket can cause rear axle offset and some rubbing of driveshaft parts, but I wasn't sure what would rub.

The panhard bad controls the side to side movement of the axle. So if he has lifted the rear and didnt install a drop bracket for the panhard bar, of the appropriate size as per his lift. It will cause the axle to cock out.
