4pin trailer harness
Has anybody hooked up a 4 pin trailer light harness to a 1st gen 4runner?If so how is it done since the lights are all on different circuits? Is there an adapter-I've checked a couple of places with no luck.Any help is needed so I can wire this myself. Thanks

My son bought a kit at NAPA. It plugged into the harness of the truck (behind each tail light), connect a ground wire and done. There was no cutting of the factory harness. His is a 85 pickup, should be the same as your connectors.
It has the adapter built into the harness. It was something like $50 USD.

To make the truck connection work on a 4Runner will require a bit of drilling, cutting & splicing. On the trucks, the back of the taillight is exposed, on the 4Runner it is enclosed inside sheet metal. You will need to drill a couple holes for the wires and then cut off the connectors, feed the wires through the holes and splice them back together. This is what I had to do for my '85.
