The rear drivers side bumpstop has come off its mount. How is it attached originally? It looks like it was glued I think- the problem with that theory is what was it glued to??? How can I fix it?

Very common problem. It was originally bonded to the round metal piece just above it. That metal piece is held on with one bolt in the middle, which is probably rusted on solid, and will require breaking the bolt, then drilling it out and re-tapping the hole if you want to install a new bumpstop (unless you're really lucky.)

You could try gluing it on with something (maybe PL Premium or some other good construction adhesive, but I don't think it will last too long with the rust there. You'd have to be able to clean it down to bare metal to get it to stick well.

My bumpstops, as well as countless other 2nd gen bumpstops, are sitting in the exact same position as yours.

i found the same problem on my 90 4runner when i was replacing my rear coils with OME springs... after i removed the spring, i unbolted the rear bumpstop plate. i'm pretty sure it's a 12mm headed bolt... and then i used self tapping sheet metal screws and screwed thru teh top of teh plate into teh rubber... i used 3 screw, and then bolted teh bumpstop back in place while putting the coil into place.

fixed them a few months ago... i know for sure they're still in place... but i have no idea how long it's gonna last...

one of my rear bumpstops came off a few years ago. Stupid bonding agent they use apperantly dosnt hold up to the test of time.

I left mine out. My rear shocks aren't long enough so there isn't much danger of bottoming out. Might deal with it when I get proper length shocks.

if your shox aren't long enough, and you hit a bump hard enough, either your shock will bottom out, or your rear axle will hit something solid... i'd highly recommend you put them back in!

Mine are in the same position. I was debating on fixing them when I change out my springs.
