22re vacuum line ?
Ok, just got my 88 4runner back together. Bad HG, got it apart and timing chain was eating up the cover. Fixed every thing and buttoned it all up this evening, except for one vacuum line I cant find. It connects towards the rear driver side of the valve cover. Seems to run fine w/o it but would like to hook it up if possible.

Here are some 87 22re vacuum photos. Hope they help.
Looks like the little filter not a hose is missing on the vsv. It also looks like you have the vsv in a different place than mine. I dont know if that is a California thing (see the diagram below).

Something seems off with your current vacuum line configuration. Check it out:
Your original pic (note where the engine removal hook is inn the lower right by the plug wire #4)
Now look at the pic from buck87 and note the same hook:
Now look at the other engine pic from buck87:
Appears that you have the two vacuum bundles mounted in each there's correct location. Mine is just as buck87's is. The green/blue bundle goes just above cylinder #4 by the engine hook and the bundle with the black connector goes btwn plug wire #1 & #2 on the valve cover. Might not be a big deal, but its easy to get it right and may lead you to the problem.
Make sense?

Ok thancks guys, It seems like Im just missing the black breather cap(?) and not actually a vacuum line. We put everything back like it was before the HG repair, so the Previous owner must have moved things around a little bit. According to the receipts I got with the truck, the PO, had the motor rebuilt at 100K. So they shop that built it probaly just stuck stuff wherever they could.
