What does this connect to?

This is a 84 22R. Facing the truck its a thicker gauged wire (hot) that comes out near the right headlight harness... I cant figure out what it hooks to..the 3 red wires are to the headlight.

Thanks

If it comes on with the key, it is probably tied to your ignition system. Probably coil wire, or ignitor. Can't think of anything else that would require a power source on that side of the truck, besides the alt., but that would need a thicker gauge wire.

if it is a large wire om that side of the engine bay it should be the charge lead from the alternator

that is the main battery wire that the alternator sends power to the battery with, muye impotante, and if you short that to ground alot of smoke and then fire. avoid touching it to anything but where it goes with battery hooked up.

60 amp upgrade semi-complete..battery is charging properly but my dash lights are still on.. I have a 88 alt and wiring harness for the alt..it has a small yellow, small red and heavier white wire.. My 84 harness has small red, small yellow, heavier white, and even heavier white wire..which of the two white wires do i hook the single white wire from the alternator to?
