I need a tie rod--i think ?!

i am in need of a tie rod is what i was told, but when i look at my auto repair manual, the tie rod is showing to be the end pcs to a long bar it attaches to.
the long bar that the tie rod is showing to attach to is actually what i am needing because mine is bent.
anyone know what it is called or where i can find one???

Does this help?

You bent what is referred to as the tie rod assembly?

edit; Nevermind, thought this was in the second gen forum.

if its the 'long rod' connecting the left side to the right side assemblies, there are a few names. 'relay rod', 'center link', 'drag link'. just to name a few. it would connect the tie rods left and right, idler arm, pitman arm.

Assuming a solid front axle (from your picture) and stock push-pull steering, the tie rod connects the two knuckles/steering arms and the drag link connects between the one steering arm and the steering box. Stock drag link is straight, some aftermarket ones are bent:

Potential dumb question: I just picked up a SFA with hi steer already on it but the tie rod is bent some in the middle. Is there a tolerance that would allow me to keep it or is it a must that I replace the rod?

If you can't get the hubs within alignment specs, then toss it.

It's just a piece of DOM with the ends threaded.

Like Peow said, just replace it. IMO if it is bent no way you will get it aligned.
main tie rod DOm at skys $100: http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/new...duct.php?id=62
All pro has one for $60: http://www.allprooffroad.com/pickupsteering/253

I did not see it listed separately on either T-G or Marlins site

I think the Marlinks are marlins'. I'll probably go with the all pro as its their kit to begin with that's on the axle. Plus I believe the $60 one is the just the tubing, w/o the ends.
