hesitant/hard start

Ok this is a new 22r engine in the truck. The truck is an 85 sr5 4x4 pickup. The problem is when tryin to crank the engine it will turn over fine for a few revolutions and when it tries to start it ll kick back like it high in time. The battery and starter is new and check out fine. Engine runs and is not outta time but cant figure out whats causing this. Any ideas?

Fuel? Spark? Low fuel pressure, faulty fuel pump, fuel filter clogged. Distributor cracked, corroded, rotor button corroded, plug wires faulty, spark plugs faulty. Vaccum leak, main intake air hose leaking. 22r or 22re? Airfilter dirty. If 22r carb out of adjustment. Timing? Idle speed correct?

try some carb cleaner, if it gets better after a couple of squirts. Then it is your carb. Another suggestion is that make sure your battery has enough charge.
