need trans and engine help

yesterday i was out offroading and i my shift patern moved to the left 1/4 to 1/2". then as the day went on my patern got worse. then i couldnt find 1st or 2nd and it would come out of the shift patern(would come too far left and hit the dash and come too far back). so i limped it out of the trails and home. on the way home my oil light was flashing on and off but my oil psi was good and it has new oil in it and is full. it would seem to flash more at higher rpms and less when costing.
so anyone have any ideas on what went wrong and how hard it will be to fix?

also the trans is a 5-speed with a non-removeable bell housing and the engine is a 22r

Pop the hood and check your motor mounts. Almost sounds like your motor and drivetrain have rotated.

*edit* Nice truck by the way!

My shifter recently did this the bushing under the shifter wore out so I took the shifter out cut a piece of thick rubber gasket out to about the same size put it back together and it's fine again.

Rather interesting that the shifter seat could make such a mess...

Ok got an update on the trans. I trailered my truck over to a trans shop to look at it. They said it looks like I broke a pin or two in the shift tower and it would be an easy fix. So I'm going to drop it and take the tower in for them to fix. I'll get a new seat on the way for it also.

So anyone have any ideas about the oil light coming on?

Is it a newer filter? Did you recently switch to full synth? Could be a clogged filter. Or your oil pump is taking a dump. I'm assuming that you've checked the level. Mine flashes sometimes when I'm getting low.

New filter only has around 30miles on it. Useing same oil I always used. Oil pump has around 200 miles on it. Pulled the pan and cleaned the pick up tube when I changed the oil last time (had a leak I need to fix). Oil is a little over the full mark and the gage was showing good psi (but it is the factory one).

If it was getting hot would that make it come on? I just put a new radiater in it and don't know if I trust the temp gage. It never got hot by the gage but I had to drive out in 3rd and that was luging it prety good.

I think you would have more serious problems before your oil light started flashing due to the temp. Could be a dipstick issue. I've heard of people having issues with the dipstick tube coming loose and falling further down into the oil pan causing them to have a higher oil reading than is actually there. Does it seem to have fallen down a bit?

Just an update. Got the trans back in and changed the oil filter(hoping it was just a bad one). I drove it about 50 miles and the light hasn't came back on and it shifts great now. Also I did put a new shifter bushing in from marlins and i like it.
