when i first fgot my 80 2wd i chased my tail on vac leaks. fixed and replaced all kinds of stuff. got out the carb clean to go hunting again and found that the throttle shaft had egg shaped the pivot hole in the body (HUGE VACUUM LEAK). I found another aisin to replave it for something like $20 from a buddy and went through it myself. bolted it on and i will be comletely honest, it ran great. but about 4 months later my idle progressively started creeping up. did more vac leak hunting and bamski, the throttle shaft again. said to hell with the aisins and went weber, haven't had a problem in 2.5 years. just my personal experience. no need to get snotty

sounds like the throttle cable was too tight.

my Carb has done the same thing...egg shaped hole where the throttle shaft is....

my cable isn't tight either i've taken up any slack in it...but it's by no means tight.

Enough thread jacking. I have a comp 280 cam and it is too much for the street. i would recommend something in the 250-260 range.
