I called and spoke with a ranger at the wildomar location and they told me that everything up there is closed due to 'road work'. we planned a short day trip from oceanside and then i found out today that its closed.

Ok so you are talking Wildomar OHV. when you go up the Ortega. Turn right instead of left on Main Divide and that trails takes you all the way to OC. It's called North Main Divide. The way to Wildomar OHV is South Main Divide.

Ocotillo Wells is cool but from where you're at you could just check out the Jasper trail down to Grapevine Canyon or stay on the main road down the grade to Borrego Springs. You can then follow trails that eventualy connect to Ocotillo Wells.
PM me if you need more info on the area.
