it's pretty impressive how much rigidity the holes and 90° bends add to the sheetmetal

its crazy how much the speed holes and the 90° bends stiffened up the sheetmetal. Im getting some ideas for the center console and shifter surround.

I took a peice of 1-5/8" OD tubing and welded it to a peice of flat plate. The plate had a hole drilled in the cemter with a nut welded to the backside. Then I threaded a bolt up through the center to keep everything centered when put in the hydraulic press. I stacked 3 flat washers inside the tubing to get the desired depth.

I built a flat recessed dimple die. Just used a peice of 1-5/8" OD tubing welded it to a peice of flat square1/8" thick plate that had a hole drilled in the center. On the backside of the plate I welded a nut. Then threaded a bolt up through. The bolt will help keep everything centered when you put it in tne hydraulic press. I stacked some washers inside the tubing to get the desired depth. You probanly could just tje tubing shkrter bjt i had the washers lying around and was too lazy, lol.

First i took an old torques T50 3/8 drive socket and cut the torque end off. Then I welded it to the shaft that the original handle slides onto. the socket is small enough that the original handle can still slide over it and be used*
