simple Q re: ADD to manual hub swap

when you remove the gold dust cap on the ADD hub, there is a bolt underneath. does it need to stay? does it matter if it does or does not?

ADD is vacuum.

The flange is not a hub.

No need for it, doesn't hold things any particular way.

I put it back in, but it doesn't really seem to hold to anything like it did in the ADD flange...

I just did an ADD swap and I thought it helped to retain the cv axle from pulling out or just moving around so much--I know I had everything apart and couldnt remove the axle until I remembered to remove that bolt, if it is the gold 12mm bolt your talking about. I may be way off on this, but it's just an idea

All I could tell it was there for was to hold the drive flange on if it came loose. I dont recall my Warn Hubs using it.

I just changed mine over and I replaced that bolt so it wouldn't get lost if I needed it later

The bolt goes in to assist in holding the AISIN hub in, just in case you lose every single cone washer & associated bolt...'

My warn hubs have it, dont remove it otherwise in the rare case everything comes off it will still hold on. Wanna replace some bolts or an entire hub?

I replaced my CV shaft on my 90 4runner 6 weeks ago and when we pulled that dust cap off, the gold washer/bolt on the end of the shaft was what was holding my shaft in place. We dug further and found that the C-clip that snaps onto the little groove in the splines was very loose and easy to take off.

So dont permanently remove that washer and bolt, besides, it's only a few grams of weight, nothing major.

you have to take it off to install aisin manual hubs. after installing the manual hub body, it's optional whether or not you want to put it back on.
