No offense man, but that is exactly why im buying my own parts and taking them to my mechanic thats doing my headgasket. I think you overpaid for all of that. If the headset would be the headgaskets, I paid half of what you did just for them but my set includes ALLL the new gaskets needed and comes with a set of 10.9 head bolts. My timing belt was 20 dollars cheaper then yours. You can buy a waterpump for our 4runners from Advance for 80 and you paid 116 for yours. You paid what you would expect to pay getting it done at a normal shop but man it pays to shop around first.

for just a little more than that price you can swap in a 3.4...if you are inclined to do so..

Not too bad in my eyes. The only way I could see it getting cheaper, is if you did the work yourself. I just hope for the 700 dollars they require for the cylinder heads, it includes one d@mn good rebuild of them.

The parts prices you paid are pretty rediculous... it's to be expected to an extent depending where you go. Hope you got all genuine Toyota for those prices?

Those hoses look expensive to me, but I have a 22-re so never bought for the 3.slow

Maybe you should consider the 3.4 my wife's runner has it and she kicks my arse on the interstate.

My girlfriends cousin who is Toyota technician is going to fix my blown HG on my 95 3.0 next week. He just told me 650.00 in parts which will include headgasket set, timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, wires, cap rotor, thermostat, seals and that all toy parts. I might have forgotten somethings tho.

What I meant to say was that that price sounds like a pretty standard shop price to me.

Oh wait I thought that was including labor. You might as well just buy another 4runner for the 3500 or more you're gonna end up paying

When I took mine to the dealer the water pump was $108 and the timing belt was $43. This guy is more expensive than the stealer and he may be using cheap aftermarket parts. At least when you take it to the dealer you know they're using genuine toyota parts and these mechanics have performed that job hundreds of times. The dealership gave me a 1 year warranty parts and labor, unlimited mileage. What's this guy giving you? IMO I'd go somewhere else.

If those are Yota parts then they are somewhat on par.

You can save some dough on these parts:
water pump $40 @ Napa
Radiator Hose and belts you can buy for way cheaper @ Napa
Timing belt $40 at dealer
Thermostat $10 @ Napa
Antifreeze $7/gal Walmart
Felpro Head Set $325 @ Checker
Engine Oil $2.50 @ Walmart

I would ask if the parts estimate are for Yota parts.

After reading the bill more cafefully it looks like you're going to have to pay those prices no matter what, since they already have your Yota torn apart.

$325 for a headset? Advance Auto Parts sells them for $198.88 and the part# on the invoice is for a fel-pro gaskit kit
Check out the prices on Advance Auto parts.com and see where you stand.
I didn't realize that the Beck-Arnley t belt has a lifetime warrenty for $58.00
