3VZE Hard to Start...Clicking sound

My 95 PU w/3VZE is now taking longer to start. I am worried this will greatly shorten the life of my starter.

I have looked into the CSI (cold start injector) threads and will see what happens once the inspection is done.

But there is one thing I have noticed when I try to start the PU. At the beginning of the cranking, there is a clicking sound coming from under my glove box. It only clicks once or twice at the beginning of each crank (with no successful start). I have never noticed this before.

After several attempts the engine finally starts.

I have also noticed it takes longer to start in colder weather since I was in Durango CO last week (Oct 14) and it took a while to start in the morning.

I know this (CSI) has been beaten to death but does anyone have any suggestions about the clicking sound?

Thanks in advance.

clicking noise coming from the pessenger when you are trying to start the truck? So it might of be your starter problem or low battery, either one. Mine will do the same thing in the morning..

I need to make it clear that the engine is turning over fast, like a normal start up.

Its 2-3 seconds into the turning that I hear this "click" from under the glovebox, while the engine is still turning over fast. It does not sound like its coming from the outside of the cab.

If your truck is taking 2-3 seconds to start, it's either battery or starter. my 3vz-e starts in about .5 seconds

That sounds like the "circuit opening relay". It should be bolted to the pass. kickpanel, near the ECM.

It could be on it's way out.

Mine was clicking on occasion, then it worsened and would not start on occasion. Replaced an old starter and some wiring. Only to realize that it was in my (ignition key cylinder area)wiring. At least that's what I believe. Installed a push button so that it wasn't going let me down again...
