Do you guys call your 4Runner a "truck?"
Ok here's the deal...
I was at work, and telling this girl about my truck. She asks what kind of truck I drive, and I tell her a 4Runner. She then goes "that's not a TRUCK" "WHAT?
" I say. and she says that it's an SUV, not a truck.
I was gonna let her win the argument(because she is cute, and a girl) but THEN a co-worker is like nope, my TACO is a truck yours is an SUV. GRRRR
so I told him mine is a truck, but not a PICK-UP truck heh,heh

I do, because it sits on a truck frame. Long ago, when the original Landcruisers, Bronco's, Blazer's and Suburbans were created, they were called trucks, too. SUV is a marketing term for the hopelessly trendy.

I hate the acronym SUV. Not only does it take longer to say, but it also just sounds stupid. I get a funny look once in a while when I use the term truck but that's what it is. One syllable nice and easy... TRUCK. If we were driving CRV's or RAV 4's and called them trucks, then we would technically be posers.

Yep, it's a body mounted on a truck frame, must be a truck, it's just the pickup area is filled with seats
I was working on my backup lamps the other day, and some 10 year old kid on a bike says "nice car man."
To bad they have laws protecting little kids
That's the first time someone has called my rig a car.
When someone asks me what I drive who has not seen my rig, I tell them I drive a 4 door station wagon on steroids.

truck/suv
I don't call mine a truck, because I generally define a truck as a vehicle that can carry a 500 Lb. load of manure without trashing the carpet.....BUT......I do agree with the general use of the term TRUCK to refer to a 4Runner, because calling it an SUV is beyond stupid.
You could just call it your "TenTimesTheVehicleYourF150WillEverBe"

I call mine a Truck. I think calling a 4Runner a SUV is kinda an insult. SUV's are like soccer mom rides that only go offroad when they pull off the parking lot into the field to pick up their kid. 4Runners are a hella tougher than that! My girlfriends best friend freaks out every time I call my runner a truck and tells me I'm wrong. Who does she think she is telling me I'm wrong about MY 4Runner
.
I'll show you SUV!

I would call it a truck because saying SUV is 3 syllables. Normally I just say "the 4Runner" and people think it's funny that I refer to it by name.
But if someone must argue about it w/me, I let them win because I don't really care much about what they call it. Some ppl call it a Pathfinder by accident too, and I don't care enough to correct them. The correct way to refer to the 4Runner is simply too lengthy. This is what it really is: It's the most amazing, comfortable, useful and reliable vehicle I've ever had the pleasure of driving.
Use that in your sentence.

"I just have to run downstairs for a sec. I forgot my tools in the most amazing, comfortable, useful and reliable vehicle I've ever had the pleasure of driving. Be right back."
As you can see, this is just inconvenient.
