Who Has NOT Had HG Issues With 3VZE?

OK, I'm running a poll to once & for all to get a percentage of the actual HEAD GASKET issues associated with our engines.

I've had my '94 4x4 Xtracab 3.0 since 2000, when I bought it with 92,000 miles on the odometer. The HG recall was accomplished just before I purchased it. I've had one major overheat (most or all of the coolant blown out) when the water pump failed, but still no issues with a head gasket.

I look foward to actual numbers since the squeaky wheels usually get all the attention...

My '95 wasn't included in the recall. It has blown once (at 106k).

I have a 95 4runner. I just got it at the beginning of last summer with 130,XXX on the odometer. It is not covered under the recall so i highly doubt it was replaced before i purchased it. It now has 142,XXX and i have never had any overheating problems or anything else associated with the headgasket issue. Im not a slow or easy driver by any means, I like to get on it, but i have never seen any higher then 4.500 rpms and that one time only was a bad downshift, i dunno what my auto was thinking. just keepin my fingers crossed now.

My wifes '91 4Runner had the head gasket replaced at around 60k when it was in for a tuneup. It wasn't leaking but the dealer did the work because it was covered by the campaign. Have never had a problem with it before or since.

Now my truck is a different story. It blew it's 2nd head gasket and has taken up residence in my garage for some time now. The previous owner did a lot of towing and really abused the engine. The engine is dead but will be getting a Jasper heart transplant real shortly here, along with some mild aftermarket upgrades.

my 95 is on its original headgasket, 205k its got rod knock, and the clutch is fried, but no headgasket! i found out from toyota that my 95 was literally one of the last one made, assembled 8/95 - 10/95 cant remember. don't know if that has anything to do with it, but so far so good on the hg!

My original blown head gasket was not covered by the recall campaign and it occured around 95,000 miles. And I've blown 'em like turkey thermometers since.

*squeek, squeek, squeek...*

"No problems beyond original recall" shows an early lead.....post on!

Oops, I sure that will cause a firestorm of backlash....

90 4runner v6 blew at 260,000 due to an overheating issue. Hydro locked one piston and blew a big junk out of her. been going strong after a living room rebuild for a 100,000 now.

I forgot what the pervious owner was having done when they informed him of the HG issue he decided to have them replaced. So really mine has never had a hg issue. It was just replaced for good measure.

Mine was not subject to the recall, either. No issues to date (fingers crossed).

My '93 runner was purchased in '03 with 63,000 miles on it. I was told the recall had been done on it. Now at 95,000 miles and no problems. (Knock on wood).

Bought my 89 4runner a couple years ago with 98k miles. Havent had any problems yet. The previous owner said he "rebuilt" the motor, but who knows what that realy means. I wish I woulda known about the HG issue, I woulda asked him about it.

Replaced in 2000 by previous owner.

No probs since, even though I've had 'er damn near redlined a few times.
