88 4R, is it worth it?

I am a FJ55 guy and need a new daily driver.
1988 4Runner, 137k miles, 22RE, 5sp, never wrecked and couldn't find any rust anywhere, good interior, everything works, sunroof, a/c blows cold, good paint looks good red with red top,,,,,,broken windshield, passenger door window switch missing, had the top off and piece of the gasket is hanging out.

He is stuck at $2800 and I am stuck at $2600, should I just go ahead and give the $2800?

Should it have some sort of stripe kit on it being an SR5?

Cost?
windshield
top gasket
window switch

I'd say yes for the condition you're talking about. 137k miles is pretty low for an older truck but for a daily driver, you can't beat the 22RE.

I found this for the switch.. Call your local glass place to a windshield estimate. I did not have any luck on a roof seal.. you might have to call toyota for that one...

Sounds like a pretty good deal. The windsheild might be kinda pricy...but I doubt the switch or the gasket will be too much.

If it is the side of the gasket, check to see if it's just the little thin part. The gasket that actually does the...gasketing, is about 3/4" thick. Theres a little smaller piece that I haven't found to do much, as it hangs out on mine as well. Doesn't affect watertightness or airtightnesss.

I was thinking in that range, but I didn't want to speak without knowing.

Thanks for the replies, bought it.

We talked again and he agreed to replace the windshield at $2800. Did not steal it at any stretch but it's an awful nice rig at a fair price. And the a/c blows cold!!!! I'll add a pic to this thread when I can.

Thanks Again, Mike

The way I look at it, if it's rusty, I"m not interested. You can always fix the engine, interior, etc., but rust...........nope. It will always come back.

And, it sounds like a nice truck for the money. Rust free old 4runner's are getting hard to find. Go get it.
