Intake manifold crud removal

There is a bunch of crud on the inside of my intake manifold. There is a GOOD thick coating of this on there. I don't care so much about the outside.

I am trying to figure out how to get this off.

The manifold is aluminum, so I can't juist soak it in caustic soluition.

Should I try soaking it in a pan full of diesel fuel for a few days?

Thanks!

carb cleaner, and or engine degreaser work fine.

I used engine degreaser (foamy Engine Brite), and sprayed and hosed it off with a washer. Looks brand new now.

WE had some industrial engine degreaser at the shop where I used to work on mercedes, and what we would do is run it up to operating temp, coat it VERY heavy with this spray degreaser foam, and then let it sit for 5-10 minutes and hose it down with a pressure washer....Always worked GREAT!!!!

get a wire wheel and stick it on the end of a drill ( a small one) or use a wirebrush or you can tie an old shirt on a drill bit and spin it in there with carb cleaner on it

I always spray a bunch of carb cleaner down each runner, stuff a piece of an old shirt all the way down it (nice and tight), then get a drill caught up in the shirt and spin it 'till it's clean.

I used 3M throttle body cleaner, pricey, but the carbon melts away.
