Fellas,

I have read a lot of threads but somehow I cannot find the required torque value for mounting the number two idler pulley.

If it is 13ft lbs, then that is what I'm gonna go by. What year is your FSM? I looked at the 93 and 95 FSM but I did not see the torque value. Thanks for the tip.

It's for a 95, the 3.0 engine section lists all the torque values

EDIT: THIS IS THE TORQUE BETWEEN THE IDLER PULLEY AND THE WATER OUTLET, NOT THE TORQUE FOR THE IDLER PULLEY AND INTAKE MANIFOLD. 13 FT-LBS IS CORRECT!

Found this thread looking for the same answer. For future users, see chart below (I read 74 in-lbs):

Uh, where did that chart come from? (As in: if it didn't come from Toyota, I'm not interested.)

Note that some of the torques on the chart are correct, but most of them are very different from what Toyota recommends. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...67timingbe.pdf

The correct torque to mount the No. 2 idler to the intake manifold is 13 ft-lbs (as 4x4cposeadog said). http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...68cylinder.pdf The 74 in-lbs is for the other side of idler (the connection to the water outlet).

page EG2-138 (PDF page 4)

Though I think you're correct still. I read the 74 in-lbs between the idler pulley and the water outlet. I should have read on page EG2-138 (PDF page 5) where it lists 13 ft-lbs between the idler and the intake manifold!! My apologies!! Thanks! Now to go edit my previous post so I'm not confusing everyone ...

Ah, okay. Then we just need to point out these numbers are for the 3VZE (though many of the torques are for parts unique to the 3VZE, the 22re also has a crank bolt, for instance, and the torque is much less -- 116 v. 181 ft lbs.)
