$40,000 Taco anyone?

Well really $39,677 sticker price:

It was at my local Toyota dealer in OKC when I went for parts the other day.

This dealer has two of the best Toyota mechanics I know of and they are both hardcore wheelers. One has done several SAS conversions and the other is getting ready to do a 3.4 swap and SAS conversion on a 92 ext-cab. They were asked by the sales dept to put together an offroad package for a Tacoma and they gladly went on a spending spree at All-Pro offroad.

Here's a pic of the rear bumper: http://community.webshots.com/photo/...42310107jlNwVC

I would love to put that bumper on my truck, but I'd have to move my 33" spare tire to do it

The DRT offroad decal is kind of funny LOL.

While the price may be a bit high, I think it is pretty cool that a dealer wants to put out an off road package. That is nice, plus it isn't as bad as the 4th gen 4runner that was on here a while back with a lot of useless stuff.

I didn't like the shape of the fenders on those originally, but I also didn't love the whole look originally. However, it has grown on me and I am now so deeply in love that I don't care about fender shape. Also, I saw a set of flairs in a magazine a while back on a show truck done by a brand name company, and they were round, but now I don't remember who it was.

The only one I can find is this one, Bushwacker flares I believe, they seem to round it out a little more, while still maintaining the angle.

I'm with you about the fenders. They remind me too much of those horrid Chevy Colorados or whatever they're called.

Are those Tacomas fully warrantied as a factory version? At nearly $40k they better be.

WOW 10k markup on that?

The armor package from All Pro is only 1500 so I wonder where the other 8500 went considering it looks like the front suspension is revtek spacers. hmmm

Still, it's pretty cool to see dealers build a new vehicle and display it I like it!

I bet there are some people on TTORA and Tundra Solutions that have had their warranties denied for having different suspensions/tires that would love to see this. It would give them ammunition since their claims are being denied.

They did sandblast and Line-x the armor and install everything using their best techs. Couldn't tell you on the front suspension, but here's a closer pic of it:

Oh yeah, don't forget the winch, wheels and tires too.

nice looking truck but 40K is a little much. I think most people here could build that truck in about a week for cost of the truck + 5K not 10

Even if the truck never sells, it is good marketing and will bring people to the dealership to look. They may get a few tire kickers that end up buying something else on the lot. And you never know, someone who has money burning a hole in their pocket just may buy it.

And yes, I hate the Colorado-like rear fenders. In 2006, Toyota finally fixed the Chevy Avalanche-style fenders on the 4Runner. Wonder how long it takes Toyota to fix the Tacoma too. Chevrolet is the last company that I would want to mimic.

same here, when the XRunner came out, they put one on 20s, with Pirelli P0s, and tints, all in all about 15k extra. That 10k extra doesnt seem bad to me for tires, winch, bumpers, sliders, suspension, and possibly a warranty, but the warranty would be the thing to really make it fair.
