Truck Fixed Thanks To This Forum

I recently managed to fix 2 problems on my 1990 Toyota truck. First, I fixed a power steering leak by rebuilding the pump and replacing the leaking high pressure fluid line. A local tube/hose shop fabbed the line for $50. Toyota wanted $260 (!) for the OEM line. Second, I managed to diagnose and fix the starter. It was clicking 15 times before engaging. I replaced the copper solenoid contacts ($15), and now it works like a charm.

I wouldn't have been able to diagnose and fix these problems without searching this forum. My truck is 2wd so some things were not the same, but having a little information up front gives me the boost of confidence I need to start. I thank the knowledgable folks who take the time to share their experiences on the web. I saved several hundred dollars and gained a sense of accomplishment because experts are willing and enthusiastic to share the wealth <sniff>.

In the years I've been here, I can't count the $$$ I've saved and the lessons I've learned. Well worth the cost of becoming a contributing member!
However, it's not just the money...it's also the ability to repair almost anything that goes wrong, plus the opportunity to learn the lessons others have to share here. I would probably have spent 1000's at a dealership for things like a head gasket repair, had I not learned about the recall, right here on Yotatech. Thanks to all!

I think I like 4runners even more after finding yotatech, the tech available here is better than a warranty.

When are you swinigin in to give me a hand with my truck there leebee? It should only take you a day or so to get here from Canadia. Just kidding!

I have received lots of valuable advice here, and from other forums, as well. Even if you are fairly experienced, it helps to have people that are model specifiicly knowledgeable.........if that makes any sense.

I learned a lot about Chrsysler Sebring convertibles from a similar forum that saved me $1000's. The most valuable thing I learned about those was don't EFFING buy one! They blow big, glossy black, chunks! Thank god the wife totalled it. We bought a Celica instead.
