I found my oil leak.

Well, after a long process this weekend, I found my oil leak on my truck. I pulled off my cam, and saw that the gasket was still in alright shape. Turns out that my front main seal is going out, dripping onto the belt to the alternator, then splattering it all over. I thought I was going to be doing a lot of work, but when I got under the truck today, I saw that I can get that rear seal out after I take my skid plate off. My dad said it would be a pretty easy fix too.
Just makes me sick how much oil was coming out. The drivers side wheel well is covered in oil, and my hood is just a mess. I'm hoping it won't cost more then a few bucks, but I don't care how long it takes me. Everybody says I am wasting money on this thing that has over 260,000 miles, but a rebuild will be coming soon, and like my old man says, if it works, then don't mess with it.

I think you mean the front main seal in the oil pump around the crankshaft! I hope that's what you mean!

Yeah, sorry. I was pretty tired when I posted that. It is the front main seal, not the rear seal. That would suck...

Mine's leaking pretty badly as well, at 299,910 miles. Still runs great, even though it has a list of other issues. Can't complain. I'm just very careful to top off the oil every 750 miles or so, takes 1/2 to a whole quart. It ought to last until a new motor comes in a month or so.

Yeah, that is the same with mine. I am not too worried about it, thought I am going to fix it this weekend if given the chance. I've got a lot of stuff going on, and since it still is getting me to school and work without any real problems, it will be ok until this weekend.
