Safari Doors for the 4runner?

anyone seen or heard tell of them for the Yota's? am thinking of fabbing some up, but if the price is right, would rather buy.

I have never seen a pair, but I think I know what you mean. This summer I plan on modding a pair of tube doors to hold a rigid small diameter tube frame with zip out or snap windows. It will be very similar to the "soft" FJ & jEEp doors.

what I want to do is take this:

and combine it with something like this:

I want the open feel of a tube door, but with the protection from rain & mud that soft doors offer. Plus you'll be able to zip or snap the windows on or off depending on preference.

If I had a drawing or design program I could show you what I mean.

no worries 85 4runner (by the way, love you rig in your icon) this is exactly what I mean. Looks like fabbing might be the best way to go since I want something to keep junk from sliding out of the cab (like the high step-over sills on my jeep) but still lets me have that wide-open feeling that I love so much from my 1st gen.

cool, sounds like we're on the same page with this. I really find it kind of hard to believe nobody has done this yet. It really seems like a mod that could be done relatively easy. I ordered my tube doors yesterday from Marlin(they're on sale for $129/pr. BTW) so I hope to have my safari doors fabbed & done sometime after SE4RJ3.

It disengages the locking mechanism for the shifter. I have one on mine.

And stickers add RWHP, you know that! That's why I have so many.

These are sort of ghetto fabbed, but I made some tube doors a few years ago, and then I added some aluminum panels to them later:

This is the only pic I could find with the panels in place, but you get the idea.
