wtk: new pitman arm damaged

just got a high steer kit from Marlin & the pitman arm had a chip in it on the surface that the tie rod end bolts to. Basically the bottom side, large side of tapered hole. <See pic> Chip is about the size of a quarter & about 0.050 deep.

I called them & they suggested running it & if it wears the tierod boot or something they'd take it back.
Or said if I was really worried, to just send it back & they'd replace it.

So, what would you do?? If it does cause any issues, it'd likely be months down the road & surely they'd forget about me even calling....
NOT trying to give them a bad name or anything, just looking for opinions.

Thanks in advance........

Talking

Tell them to send you a replacement out next day air and throw that thing away...they are going to trash it anyway.

Dan wanted me to send mine first, then they'd send me a new one.... I always hate it when places what you to do that. Nothing like pissin away a few bucks on something that's not your fault!
Guess i should anyway, this could be a bad forging & fail later....better safe than sorry........

Agreed. I wouldn't pay a dime more. You payed for a new part, you should get a new part. Any defect shouldn't have even gone out the door. I wouldn't necessarily give them a hard time as mistakes do happen, but still, they should make it right with you and not have a problem with that.

I had a part I ordered from Summit that was damaged, they sent out a new one the same day, and a return label for the damaged part. Didn't cost me a dime. On top of that, they gave me $25 bucks off my next order! I was very happy. Needless to say, I continue to give Summit by business. My 2 cents.

Agreed. The above situation with Summit is how it SHOULD be handled by any vendor.

I got the wrong manual hubs from strap22 of trdparts4u.com (miscommunication on both our parts) and without question he sent me the correct ones out the same day and a label for the others.

I'd tell Marlin to do the same. Anything else is unacceptable IMO.

Talk to Dave - point him to this thread. He'll take care of you.

Finally got through to M/C (it's been busy since Fri.), spoke to Dean & said he'd seen the pics I sent them last week. & said he'd get a new one out today with a return label.

After remembering that Sky's got billet pitman arms, I'm almost tempted to get one of theirs & sell this forged arm....

Any thoughts??
