Airport security and laptop computers

This weekend I am going on vacation to Daytona Beach, Florida!! I can't wait! I was thinking of taking my powerbook with me on the trip, watch a movie on the plane, and maybe a movie in the hotel room, and of course to check yotatech! I am just worried about airport security, as I do not want to hold everyone up just because I wanted to bring my computer. I have heard that they make you turn it on, so I was just going to leave it in sleep mode since it wakes up faster than it boots. Anything else I should do other than that and put a label on the bottom with my name/address on it?

Thanks!!!

Don't worry about it at all. When I travel with my Powerbook the most they ever do to me is swab the lid with a pad to check for explosive residue.

They have really lightened up on the laptops. I would not worry about it at all. I think they have learned what to look for a lot better. I have found that if you are calm and patient with all the TSA's requests they will get you through in a very timely manner. I for one am glad they are there to do that job.

i have traveled alot wiht my laptop. make sure its out of the bag and put in its own grey tub thingy. it takes all of 30 seconds to take it out and put it back in.
its all apart of the "undressing/redressing" you have to do. someday when i have the balls to do it, or at least enough i think it would be funny to keep un dressing your self and put all your cloths exept your boxers through the x-ray machine and go through the metal detector in your underware.

That would be pretty funny. I wonder what they would do? Technically I don't think they could do anything as long as you Kept your drawers on.

not to mention, people have gotten more patient at security lines... i mean if someone gets mad, ask them if theyd rather have thorough security or an open door?

you no longer have to turn it on - that was in 2001 and 2002. now all you do is take all of your electronic devices out and put them in a gray bin to go thru by themselves. after that, you're good to go.

yeah, nothing to worry about. All you do is take it out of your bag. Also, people don't get upset about it either because 80% of the people it seems like also carry a laptop.

I highly recommend taking it with you. It is worth it. Especially if your flight gets delayed you don't have to just sit there and do nothing for hours. most airports now offer free wi-fi.

Got back home yesterday (I MISS FLORIDA!!!) arrived at the airport early, too early, lol. I was the ONLY one in the security line. They took about 10 minutes to search my computer bag, opened every pocket and every case inside. Other than that no problems at all. Was a little time consuming, but I really appreciate what those security officers do for our country!!
