the world's worst filter goes hi-performance!
This article was e-mailed to me by the marketing research team of my company (WIX Filtr.). They always have their eyes and ears open for new releases. Sad as it is, Fram will probably sell the hell out of these at Checker and Autozone and WalMart.
Fram to Arm 400 Truck/SUV Owners with New Cold Air Intake
Hey truck owners: Would you rather have the opportunity to be on TV or get a big free boost of vitamin H (horsepower) for your truck?
The gearheads at Fram want to give you both.
To launch its new Fram Boost® cold air intake system, Fram is looking for truck and SUV owners to enter for a chance to win one of 400 cold air intake systems in its sweepstakes before they go on sale in May. Fram will then document several of the truck owners' experiences with the new intake in its TV, print and online advertising.
Truck and SUV owners interested in becoming a part of the Fram 400 promotion can sign up for the sweepstakes and contest by visiting www.framboost.com and submitting an entry and questionnaire before 11:59 p.m. EST April 4, 2006 that tells why they should be selected and what they plan to do with the new Fram Boost.
On April 5, the 400 Fram Boost sweepstakes winners will be announced. Out of the 400 winners, the 40 most suitable candidates will be selected in round one of the contest, and the 20 most suitable will be selected in round two. They will be interviewed and filmed while installing and discussing the product. The commercials will feature some of the 20 finalists selected in round two. The Web site with testimonials will go live near the end of April, after which the intake system will be available for sale to the general public. Pre-orders will be available March 20.
"We're putting our money where our mouth is," said John King, Fram brand senior product manager. "While cold air intakes are not new, the way we're going to market is. Our entire marketing and advertising campaign will be based on the testimonials of the winners of the Fram 400 contest. Customers can learn about our product straight from other truck or SUV owners."
Details and effective rules of the Fram 400 sweepstakes and contest are on www.framboost.com. Entrants must be legal U.S. residents 21 years or older who own a truck or SUV compatible with a Fram Boost® air intake system before the date of the promotion. Odds of winning the sweepstakes depend upon the number of eligible entries received. The approximate retail value of each prize is $250. The sponsor of the promotion is Honeywell International, Inc.
Initially, the Fram Boost® intake system will only be available online, along with details of the products, real-world customer stories, the list of trucks and SUVs supported, dyno charts and pre-order information. The cold air intake systems will be available for a wide range of domestic and import pickups and light trucks beginning in early to mid May at www.framboost.com.

Yeah, not after their track record with massive oil filter defects. But Fram's air filters consistently have less media in them than all other brands. It's because they've cut costs so much so that they can be a WalMart vendor. All sepcs aside, I think it's safe to say that their general reputation among automotive enthusiasts is one of being low quality.
