I recently bought a 96' V6 Tacoma Extra cab, the VZ or something similar motor. Well here is the problem; this morning Im riding around the parking lot looking for a space to park, while sitting for a few seconds I notice my clutch pedal starts to feel weak and spongy. After a few more depressions the pedal goes to the floor with hardly any engagement. Later on today I go back to the truck after class, check for leaks, check reservoir level and everything looks good. I get in the truck and drive across town and everything is working smoothly until I sit at a stoplight for a few minutes.

If anyone can give me any insight into how to fix this problem or what the cause may be, please do so.

Sounds like either a master cylinder or slave cylinder problem, slave is cheaper of the two to fix, although you might start by simply bleeding the system at the slave end and purge all the air out. If this doesnt help, then buy a new slave, failing that, buy a master, failing that ....

 

A sinking clutch pedal with no leaks (at the slave) is probably the master rather than the slave cylinder. I'd bleed first (starting at the slave then the master) then check movement of the slave cyl (helps to have 2 people). If the slave moves fine, then drive for a few days. If the pedal still sinks, replace the clutch master cylinder.
